The UVLrx™ Patient Cable is a highly flexible fiber optic cable that attaches at one end to the emission port of the device via a standard SMA-905 connection. At the other end of the UVLrx™ Patient Cable, is a stainless steel, passivated metal adapter with a Luer-style slip-lock ring, which is designed to mate with either the calibration port or the UVLrx Dry Light Adapter™. With the UVLrx™ Patient Cable affixed to the emission port and calibration port, the user initiates calibration, an important phase that measures the light output from the end of the UVLrx™ Patient Cable. Calibrating the light emitted from the distal portion of the UVLrx Patient Cable allows the device to adjust for any light loss as it exits the UVLrx Station™ and navigates along the UVLrx™ Patient Cable. A successful calibration, meaning the drive current for the LEDs was sufficient to achieve the pre-programmed photodiode counts required, advances the user to the treatment screen enabling the user to initiate treatment. The UVLrx™ Patient Cable’s durable design allows for multiple treatment use. Additionally, the metal stem and optical face of the fiber optic and the faces of the tapered adapter and slip-lock ring can be disassembled for easy cleaning.
